104 Sounds Silly, but it works!  Stale, soft-chunks of bread, rubbed over wallpaper in even, vertical strokes, "erase" the soiled spots--even very visible fingermarks.

I use my old bread to make bread pudding, strata or bread crumbs.  I've heard you can use it to clean old pictures, also.  Seems like there should be something inedible that could be used instead.  Especially given the ratio of food and people these days.

Number 94 probably should be ignored altogether.  Tetrachloride I think causes cancer and a house filled with turpentine fumes...?  With all of today's electric appliances...?

But I think I'm going to try 92 - Give glazed wall tiles the sparkle of newness by wiping with a sponge dipped in ammonia and water.

Windows will require less elbow grease to close if you moisten a ray with some glycerin and use it on those dirty panes.  They'll stay clean longer too.

Does Junior howl when you want him to wear rubbers?  Protect his feet from moisture by giving the soles of his shoes several coats of shellac.

The first time I read this, I thought it said give the soles of his FEET several coats of shellac.  I thought, well, life was truly different in those days.

More old and interesting housekeeping hints.  I especially like 49.  When out of shoe polish, a handy substitute is paste floor wax.  It's neutral color makes it fine for dark or light shoes.

The black object to the right of the book page is an English leather bookmark I picked up at a garage sale last weekend.  Since England is the only other country I have ever visited and I don't know if I will ever get back, I satisfy my travel lust by collecting bits and bobs.

If you get caught in the rain and your shoes are soaked, apply saddle soap to them and let them dry with the soap on.  This prevents their getting stiff.

Save wear and tear on heels and toes of silk or nylon stockings by rubbing these portions with a small piece of beeswax.

6 - To judge the quality of woolen material, squeeze it in your hand.  It should feel smooth, rubbery, spring, when you open your hand.  If it has a rough feeling, the grade is inferior.

Just for fun, I'm going to scan and blog my way through this book.  It belonged to my MIL who was a British War Bride.  Some useful advice, maybe?
